July 12-14: 8 Operating Rooms (Cardiac Surgery, Thoracic), OR Desk will move over the weekend and open on Monday morning, July 14. Frozen Section will move on Friday evening, July 11 and open on Saturday morning, July 12.
July 14: The inpatient move will take place all day on Monday, July 14.
“This is an exciting chapter in the life of Brigham and Women’s Hospital as we welcome staff, patients and visitors to this state-of-the-art cardiovascular center that embraces a rich tradition of serving our community as one hospital with one mission,” said BWH President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA.
Once the move is complete, the hospital will turn its attention to renovating the Tower to create more single-occupancy rooms and reorganize units to locate service lines, such as the separate oncology units, together.
At this time, only employees who need to be in the Shapiro Center to prepare for the move may enter the building. Ambulatory patients will be directed accordingly. Information about additional moves will be communicated when it is finalized. Speak with your manager if you have any questions.
